Aims and topics
The members of the Society Industrial Cell Technology are committed to advancing the research of industrial cell technologies for complex tissue- and cell culture technologies.
Hence, various departments work together: engineering and material sciences provide basic application technologies as well as innovative materials, for the benefit of diversified applications. The main application fields are:
- biomedical research incl. regenerative medicine
- medical engineering
- marine biotechnology as well as food technology
The future development of new therapeutic agents, cell-based therapy concepts or also the bioproduction of complex substances require new platform technologies. Here, three-dimensional cell cultures consisting of several cell types play a key role, complemented by corresponding instrument technologies as well as new materials.
By founding the Society Industrial Cell Technology, the members generate new, promising synergies across organisations and departments. Thus, the position of Germany's life sciences in the international competitions of biomedical innovations will improve in the medium term.
The branch association BIO Deutschland is taking over the representation of scientific-political interests on the national and European level.

Short profile
The Society Industrial Cell Technology support the use of cell culture systems for the industrial product development, analysing technologies as well as innovative instruments and materials. Hence, it is situated at the interface across faculties:
TECHNOLOGIES such as culture bioreactors, procedures for monitoring and analyses as well as bioprocesses
INNOVATIVE MATERIALS like bio-mimetika or intelligent polymers
APPLICATIONS e.g. in biomedicine, regenerative medicine, medical engineering, food or aquatic cultures
